Miriam & The Tipsy Pandas is the moniker of the Brooklyn-based producer, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist, Miriam Saquing Dumlao.
I am the daughter of blue collar immigrants who are creatives at their core. Mama, a singer; Papa, a farmer. I am the eldest of three daughters, though my parents took in three more (all boys, and four total, if you count the kid who’s mom owned a nail salon next door to the church) just for the helluvit. I know what it's like to support, to lead, to tend to more than myself for as long as I can remember. Faith and spirituality have guided my life's trajectory, so naturally, I bend toward optimism and the belief that every circumstance, even those difficult and damn-near crushing, can fuel our outlook toward life and our desire to grow.
Playing music director for the last two decades, Miriam is best known for her tenacious voice and playful personality. Starting off as a drummer at the age of twelve, Miriam's musicality is highly rhythmic, with her sound rooted in the timeless flavors of blues, gospel, folk, and soul. Miriam & The Tipsy Pandas is the (—) musical collective setting out to unify old world sound with the universal longing for truth, hope, love, justice and peace -- with a passion to cross-pollinate diverse cultures, generations, and spiritualities through the power of sound.
Off the stage and out of the studio, Miriam’s management experience spans over two decades. From bike mechanic to production lead in a Manhattan-based jewelry company, from managing the Empire State Building Starbucks to managing bands, Miriam’s ability to develop and lead people teams with skilled communication and empathy is next to none. As a trained psychologist, Miriam brings a calming presence to any environment - creatively, strategically, and with joy.
